Tempura - Japanese dish from Portugal.

Tempura was introduced to Japan by Portuguese Jesuit missionaries in the 16th century. It is prepared with the use of, among others: fish, shrimps, calamari, clams, mushrooms and vegetables. They are breaded and fried briefly (4-5 minutes) in deep oil.

Tempura is served alone, salted or accompanied by a sauce in which you can dip fried pieces of food (e.g. tentsuyu sauce with mirin, dashi and shoyu), with raw vegetables or as an addition to dishes such as udon or ramen.
